This tank is built to the exact specifications of the original tank with the exception of adding a sending unit. The aluminum we use to make our fuel tanks with comes coated on a PVC coating on one side to protect it from being scratched. Unfortunately someone wasn't paying attention when this tank was rolled and the PVC ended up on the inside not the outside like it was supposed to. Therefore the outside was severely scratched. This makes no difference in the quality of the craftsmanship nor does it affect its structure or integrity. If you wanted to take the time to paint the tank you would never see the scratches. We would not recommend sanding the tank as that would thin the material and there is no sure way of knowing how thin you have sanded the material till it is too late.
